SYNTHETIC ORGANIC CHEMIST
zuSyn is a new company based in Kalamazoo with research collaborations throughout the Midwest. zuSyn is developing new anticancer drugs using proprietary glycochemistry for modifying known natural product scaffolds to produce new drug candidates with enhanced solubility, bioavailability and broader indications.
zuSyn is seeking synthetic organic chemists to staff two positions in new laboratory space in Kalamazoo, MI.
The successful candidate will have significant bench experience in organic synthesis, including analytical and spectroscopic methods (IR, NMR, MS, HPLC, GC, TLC) and standard small-scale synthetic techniques. Ph.D. or equivalent industrial experience required. Experience in natural product or medicinal chemistry highly desirable. Ability to work both independently and collaboratively in the highly dynamic environment of a new company is also required. In addition to the foregoing, the ideal candidate will also have the ability to handle some administrative tasks (e.g., purchasing, sample processing), interact with contract service providers, and be able perform literature searches in the standard databases.
This is a fulltime position, but part-time employment may be possible for suitably qualified and flexible candidates.
The company is based in Kalamazoo, but the individual filling the position should be willing to travel (primarily US Midwest).
